Nanosatellites and space systems

The programme constitutes a research axis devoted to the design and development of experimental space technologies in order to progressively prepare the capabilities needed for future African satellite missions.

The programme constitutes a research axis devoted to the design and development of experimental space technologies, with the aim of gradually preparing the capabilities needed for future African satellite missions.

RECA works on the study of nanosatellite architectures, embedded systems, electronic subsystems, communication systems, power supply and technologies needed to control and operate a space platform.

The programme favours a progressive approach based on the system design, simulation, prototyping and testing, to develop the technical skills needed before orbital missions are carried out.

Research can also integrate artificial intelligence, automation, remote sensing and space communications technologies to design platforms that meet specific scientific or technological objectives.

In the long term, RECA aims to contribute to the emergence of African capacities in space systems engineering, from the design of subsystems to the integration and operation of future satellite platforms.
