The programme aims to develop African capacities in artificial intelligence applied to space science and scientific data. RECA is exploring the design of AI models capable of processing and interpreting large amounts of satellite, geospatial, environmental and scientific data.
Work includes image classification, change detection, automatic geographic information extraction, scientific data analysis, and the development of intelligent decision support systems.
Special attention will be given to the development of aI solutions that can work locally, in order to promote the mastery of the technologies, data and infrastructures necessary for their exploitation.
Eventually, RECA hopes to establish a research capacity to develop models adapted to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). african realities, data and issues, at the crossroads of artificial intelligence, geomatics and space science.
