The programme aims to develop African capacities in Artificial intelligence applied to space science and scientific dataRECA is exploring the design of AI models capable of processing and interpreting large amounts of satellite, geospatial, environmental and scientific data.
The work includes image classification, change detection, automatic extraction of geographic information, scientific data analysis and the development of intelligent decision support systems.
Particular attention is paid to the development of AI solutions that can work locally, to promote the mastery of the technologies, data and infrastructures necessary for their exploitation.
In the long term, RECA wants to establish a research capacity to develop models suitable for the African realities, data and issues, at the intersection of artificial intelligence, geomatics and space sciences.
